The Local Companion

A free, open-source toolkit that runs on your own computer and extends JobVerdict with automations the cloud product deliberately does not include.

What it does

Scans job boards and ATS listings on a schedule from your machine
Sweeps your own mailbox for application updates (rejections, interviews, acks)
Drafts follow-ups and networking messages for you to review and send
Keeps a local dashboard of your pipeline that syncs with your tracker

Why it’s separate from the cloud product

Some platforms — most notably LinkedIn — prohibit automated access to their services in their terms of service. JobVerdict’s cloud product therefore never connects to your LinkedIn or other personal accounts. The Companion is different by design: it is software you run yourself, on your own machine, under your own logins.

Your responsibility — read this

If you point the Companion at a third-party platform, you are the one accessing that platform, and you are responsible for complying with its terms of service. Automating actions on LinkedIn, for example, violates LinkedIn’s User Agreement and can lead to restrictions on your account. The Companion is provided as-is, without warranty, for use at your own discretion and risk. We don’t host it, we don’t run it for you, and we never see your credentials.

Get it

The Companion is open source (MIT), based on the career-ops project. Setup instructions live in the repository README. You need Node.js and about fifteen minutes.
